Caged 03:07
What can you do when you find yourself in a box? Ain't got no sides, no doors and no locks You can't escape from a trap that you can't see If nothing is holding you back, does that makes you free? Jailer, toss me the keys before my fingers go numb And my toes start to freeze I wanna dance in the breeze like an animal man I wanna swim in the seas, I wanna roll in the sand If I can't get away I'd better learn how to fly But I'll never escape if I just keep on asking why

Jimbo 04:21

Once there was an old dirt road that washed away when it rained It froze up every time it snowed and had to be remade But the mountains call The people who had lived up there found a way to love the land Animals and trees everywhere, wherever you could stand The water and the air were pure and made you think that you could be One with everything around, everything you see And the mountains call, the mountains call I found a place to be myself and live with everything I know Found the strength to be my own in spite of all the rain and snow 'Cause the mountains call, the mountains call
4.
Far Away 02:28
Far away and way behind Far ahead and deep inside Don't need a bed, only bring your mind In the dancing branches hear the stormy song tonight In the dark and in the light In the day and in the night It ain't just a gift, you know that it's your right In between the pieces there's got to be some glue And just because it's out of your reaches doesn't mean it can't be true
5.
Rainy Day 03:50
The rain cam down at the break dawn I looked out my front window, see a strange dog on my front lawn Only way I know how to carry on is playing that same old song And the puddles on the street, they fill up my shoes It doesn't matter which street I choose I've got those rainy day morning blues And my brain is howling, think I might have got a bruise I left my umbrella in a closet back at home Where I wish I had a guard dog, mouth running over with foam And I know it's gonna be raining no matter where I roam
6.
Periphery 02:50
I can see anything in front of me And to the side in m periphery But I can't see anything in back me Got forward eyes, it's behind me But if I turn around I think I'll find what was behind Just keep moving forward, never straight I'm looking for that gate, looking for that gate You can be anything you want to be Just keep an eye on the periphery You can know anything you ought to know If you just go to where the water flows But If I turn around I think I'll find what was behind Just keep moving forward, never straight Look out for that gate, don't worry if you're late With blinders on, the tunnel's straight ahead You have your way so stick with that instead But if you take them off you'll see so much more that is there You'll have to look and make your own repair But if you turn around I think you'll find what was behind A misstep can be traced if you just look at where your foot fell I hope it goes well
7.
Echo Chamber 03:56
I only read news that I want to hear Echo, echo Don't care if it's wrong or laden with fear Echo, echo We're in an echo chamber We like the sound of our echo chamber Nobody wants to know what's really going on Echo, echo Just click or comment, do it all on your phone Echo, echo We're in an echo chamber We like the sound of our echo chamber So I just telly friends what they want to hear Echo, echo 'Cause they don't like to disagree and they've made it quite clear Echo, echo We're in an echo chamber We like the sound of our echo

I see the soldiers in their lines all just waiting for their times And I feel the suffering of everybody who's there And I can feel the air I see the women in tassels and I see theme as they walk by And I see their hourglass castles They drop like rain Grain by grain I watch the concrete underneath cracking, begging for relief And I wander all around the square And I can feel the air I see the women in tassels and I see theme as they walk by And I see their hourglass castles They drop like rain Grain by grain

about

Completely self-produced and featuring only minimal collaboration, "Hourglass Castles" is the first solo offering by multi-instrumentalist singer-songwriter Garrett Deming. After having spent nearly a decade fronting hard rock and blues bands, Deming presents a sound rooted in vintage styles but sparkling with a fresh modern feel. From live funky jams to mountain collars and sampled groove tunes this release marks a cathartic shedding of an old shell and the spreading of new musical wings.
